Talenque de Navahermosa

Hiking Equipment: Confortable pants and shirts and if it is possible long clothes for avoiding injuries, riding boots(water proof), a cap, a bag of food and water, if you like using a walking stick you can take it, a solar cream and a first-aid-kit.   

Trail Description: It starts at the recreational area, about 500m from Navahermosa, which can be reached by HU-8119 Road that is derived from the N-433 Road(Sevilla-Portugal).
Going west along the road that through the village, and after travelling about 400m before the first corner, we abandoned it and we take a right exit which puts out in a level ground, for which we advance near the stream which is the Navahermosa ravine( with a lot of vegetation like chestnuts, holm oaks, etc.).

At about 100m, we find the start signal. Then, by a fountain, we cross the river-bed that we will continue during much of the route. Soon the road runs between the stream and a natural stone wall. When we have alredy travelled almost the first kilometer, we will find a crossroad that we will save continuing forward, without leaving stream and moving in the same direction as its waters, from south to north. We cross the channel, when we have found chestnuts and we head toward a meadow of cork oaks. We cross the ravine again and we continue  moving through the valley. Following the route, we find some apple orchards indicating that we are approaching to Valdelarco therefore we will see the first houses.             

         

Additional Information: Navahermosa is a small town where there are only 60 inhabitants so it is difficult to do complementary things but there are two typical festivals  that they are very interesting. 


Epoch and time frame recommended: In this rural area usually rain so it is better to go in Spring because in this season the flowers are very beautiful.

Others Activities: In this town is difficult to do others activities, but you can visit a botanical garden and doing canyoning.You also can enjoy of their festivals and see how people celebrate it. 

Cultural and Landscape Aspects:  Navahermosa has two important festivals: 
Corpus Christi Day: In this days, town people do a great festival in the week-end on the streets with musical events. They have a procession on Sunday which starts at the church and pass for every streets and the procession stops in the houses where there are sick people. 
Rosario Virgin Day: This festival is shorter that the other, but no for that is worse. It consist in an emotional procession of the patron saint for all streets.

Predominant Flora, Fauna and Land:
Fauna:The route runs mostly by a bank where the waters have a relative constancy which favors the existence of the most amphibians that inhabit there.
The undergrowth, with abundant presence of brambles, welcomes numerous insects. 
So many species of warblers are common like the Cirl scribe or the picogordo.
The place is suitable for the presence of forest raptors  as the hawk.
Several species of fish when the waters have some permanence appear. In addition to other wildlife( otters, kingfisher, herons, etc.) having in them an important part of their diet. A highlight is the presence of the black stork that has in these places one of his foraging areas.   

Vegetation:The itinerary is developed by a cloud forest riparian high plant diversity and siliceous meso mediterranean crops cork forest of chestnut and pine Flanders. Especially interesting is the presence of Quercus pyrenaica, of which there are very well represented in The Talenque.
